Power Control

Handy Hint --

For certain materials and/or the number of layers welded, it is best not to use the power control as a measure of weld strength. Rather it is better to watch the Anode meter, this will give you a true indication of the weld strength and quality.

POWER CONTROL :

This control normally varies a capacitor and thus load coupling to the welding platens. By this means power can be varied. This control should always be returned to zero when a new die is being tested, and slowly raised to achieve a good weld.

Many factors govern the correct setting for this control - changes in HF feeder strap length or width, press tuning stubs, plastic thickness and die dimensions are some of these factors.

If the power is set too high incorrect operation will result. This is caused by the feeder and press circuit being on the wrong frequency.
